At a first glance I was quite pleased that there were some actual makeup bits in the box, for bloody once! However, I don't see how I'm suited to a darkish orange blusher... do they even actually use our beauty profiles? I know they say they do, but there's always a product I'm left confused by!
So what did I get?
Anatomicals Body Cleanser 150ml (300ml is £5, so this is worth £2.50)
It smells like roses, which I'm not sure if I like or not, but it's very Valentines appropriate. It's a decent size too and I'll use seems as I've never tried any Anatomicals products before.
Docteur Renuad Raspberry Soft Cream 30ml (Full size is 50ml for £25, so this is worth £15)
I can't really smell this at all! I have a stuffed up nose and whatever smell it has it's as strong as the rosey Anatomicals product, so I'll have to wait for my cold to go away before I can smell the raspberries... or not!
Modelco Eyeshadow Duo in 'Bronzed Godness' 2 x 2.35g (Full size is 3 x 2.35g for £18, so this is worth £12)
This is the product that I was most pleased to receive, they're very 'me' shades and I shall be sporting them in the near future. I'd never heard of Modelco before, so it was great be introduced to them.
Helen E Cosmetics Moisturising Lipstick in Hollywood Red 3.5g (Full size worth £8)
I'm quite annoyed with this product, I'm 99.9% sure that my beauty profile says 'natural' so god knows why I always get sent red lipsticks! Since when was a bright red lip natural?! It seems like a nice formula, but it look like it'd stain (it was a pain to get off after only 0.5 secs of being on my lips) and generally doesn't suit me at all!
Micabella Cosmetics Mineral Blush Powder in Siera Suede 0.8g (Full size is 9g for £34.95)
I'm not sure if this will suit me or not, it comes up fairly dark on my pale-as-milk skin. I've not applied it to my face yet, so it may look different after I've had a chance to attack it properly. I don't think I'd ever pay £35 for a blusher, seems far too expensive!
Overall I'm impressed with the inclusion of makeup products, but not so impressed with the matching to my beauty profile, seems like a waste of time to even fill it in! I got this box with my Glossydots and I've now unsubscribed. I've come to the conclusion that I don't want to get a £12 box each month that's a bit hit and miss (I know that comes with the territory) and that I'd rather spend £12 on something else!
I'd love to be able to get a glossy box, but sometimes they have awful months and others are spectacular! I don't think the risk is worth it in my opinion. xx
ReplyDeleteSorry you were a bit disappointed with your box :( I can understand why you feel it can be a bit hit-or-miss. I got really different things to you though: http://newwithhashtags.co.uk/glossybox-february-2013/
